Physical

The physical component of Quadrant Healing must be addressed to enable the body to heal itself.  Unlike other treatment modalities which are invasive, this gentle and specific scientific approach supports natural restoration of impaired nerve flow and associated feelings of wellness and harmony.

Current scientific research has proven that the addition of Chiropractic care to addiction treatment dramatically increases the patient’s ability to stay in his or her recovery program. Chiropractors are trained to locate and remove subluxations.   Subluxations are areas of nerve interference in the delicate communication pathways between the brain, spinal cord, and all the tissues and cells of the body. Common causes of  subluxations are attributed to the stresses of life which Chiropractors call “The three T’s: toxins, traumas, and thoughts”.

Toxins can be internal (by-products of digestion or lactic acid build up from exercise) or external, such as air and water pollution or food additives. Traumas can range from severe causes such as accidents or injuries, to seemingly minor irritations, such as persistent postures (i.e.  using a computer mouse or holding a telephone cradled under one ear). Thoughts include the worries and concerns that play through our heads like never ending tapes, robbing us of peaceful sleep and a relaxed posture.   A nervous system with subluxations is less able to adapt to the stresses caused by the “three T’s”. The brain needs clear communication with the rest of the body, and any interference can begin to shut down vital pathways that keep all the organ systems in balance. Fatigue and loss of energy often appear before any other symptoms. Without enough power, the body/mind connection has to work overtime just to get the messages through.   Modern science has shown a direct relationship to our thoughts, our body chemistry and how we feel.

The new field of medicine, Psychoneuroimmunology, reveals that the unprocessed feelings we stuff inside our bodies can cause to feel “loaded down” with problems. This can lead to chronic congestion, water retention, and digestive disorders.   Research by scientist Candace Pert, Ph.D., has revealed that there are more receptor sites for brain chemicals (known as neurotransmitters) on the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and other organs than there are in the brain itself. These neurotransmitters allow the body to attain a state of well being, feel relaxed, and in tune with its environment. With uncorrected subluxations, important brain chemicals are inhibited and the body/mind connection cannot function in a balanced state. Not only does this imbalance cause physical dysfunctions, but also upsets emotional and metabolic pathways.

Our lives are filled with many of the “Three T’s”, on a daily basis.  Chiropractic adjustments can help people handle the effects of living in a stressful world, without succumbing to the negative outcomes of physical and emotional illness and dis-ease. It is often impossible to control the world we live in, whether it be a stressful job, financial difficulties, or dysfunctional family dynamics. We can choose to allow ourselves the benefits of a fully functioning, intact nervous system; free of nerve interference through Chiropractic care. When we have more energy and feel more alive, it is easier to make healthier choices in all areas of our lives, including saying “No” to things that we know are bad for us.
