in*ter*ven*tion (noun) [inter venshen]

1. Action affecting another's affairs:  An action undertaken to change what is happening in another's affairs, especially in order to prevent something undesirable.

The dictionary defines the task simply however the logistics and emotions surrounding the task are anything but simple. They are complex and at times overwhelming.  Watching someone you love destroy themselves and others with behaviors that are out of control can lead to resentment, bitterness and hopelessness. For the person struggling with addictive or abusive behaviors, continuing in such behaviors can lead to incarceration, hospitalization or death.

Life Recovery Skills provides families and friends of those struggling with destructive behaviors a comprehensive and proven intervention approach. There are critical roles that an intervention group must assume in the process of confrontation and we have found that bad intervention strategies can often drive an addict or an abuser further away from a decision to enter into the healing and restoration process.

We want your intervention to be successful and our experienced facilitators will guide each of the participants through specific training points and role playing scenarios to prevent an "attack mode" environment.  A Life Recovery Skills intervention facilitator will plan and participate in all phases of the intervention process, which includes, but is not limited to:

  •    Participant process indoctrination
  •    Individual "weak-link" screening
  •    Individual and group role assignment and strategies
  •    Script development and review
  •    Intensive "dry run" rehearsal
  •    Back-up scenarios and options for rejection of intervention
  •    Facilitation of actual intervention
  •    Facility placement coordination and scheduling
  •    Transportation arrangements
  •    Post-treatment reintegration programs for family and addict/abuser
  •    Relapse prevention programs

We at Life Recovery Skills work with treatment centers here in Washington State as well as those across the country.  One of the centers we have developed a personal and working relationship with locally is Sundown M Ranch in Eastern Washington (Selah, near Yakima).  Because of its location, program focus, and reasonable cost, we have found that it supports the critical timing and placement for individuals who accept the intervention as a necessary path to healing and life change.

It is our desire to partner with you in the intervention process so that you are not alone before, during and after the confrontation of a loved one.  Our sole purpose is to provide you with the tools, training and logistics support necessary to minimize the stress and confusion that surrounds confronting someone in denial.

Please contact us for an intervention consultation.  We look forward to the steps you are about to take to break the cycle of dysfunction that is causing the pain in your life and the lives of others.
